Introduction to NAS & SAN

Ask an Engineer

 What are NAS and SAN?

NAS is Network Attached Storage. SAN is a Storage Area Network. Both are gaining popularity over direct attached storage. Analysts estimated that the usage of both NAS and SAN have grown 67% over the past year. One big reason for this is that they provide shared storage for multiple servers and multiple protocols.

But there is much more to the NAS-SAN picture.
